MyLe & Tuan’s Jacksonville, Florida Wedding- Sneak Peek

Two weeks ago, Henry and I had the opportunity to go back to my hometown (in Jacksonville, FL) to photograph MyLe and Tuan’s beautiful, beautiful wedding. Tuan and I went to college together. We started the same year at the University of North Florida (UNF). I remember when he and MyLe started dating. It’s mind-blowing how long these two have been together.

Since dating, they both have seen each other graduated from UNF and both of them have gone on to continue their education. They survived long distance when MyLe had to move away to go to pharmacy school. I remember when we took engagement photos back March. I can’t take a bad photo of Myle that day.  And Tuan, he is a goof ball, so nice and genuine and caring.

Thank you guys for having Henry and me there to document the beginning of your happily ever after. Here are the sneak peeks. I hope you love them!

The day started with a tea ceremony at their homes. Per the Vietnamese tradition, the groom’s family comes to the bride parent’s home with gifts to ask for her hand in marriage.

Meanwhile, outside, the groom and his family are lining up.

The best part about the Vietnamese tradition are these colorful ‘ao dai’ that women wear on special occasions.

Here comes to bride.

As soon as she saw everyone, she started to cry.

When her Dad gave his speech, he started to tear up, which made MyLe cry ever harder.

At one point, everyone started to tear up. So one of the Uncles yelled out loud: “It’s a happy day. Cheer up! Smile guys, smile!”

The ceremony at the groom’s home was really quick. They greeted the relatives and ancestors, exchanged wedding rings, offered tea to Tuan’s grandma. Everyone gave them their wedding gifts and that was it!

Then it’s onto all of the fun photos with the bridesmaid and the bride and groom themselves:

These photos perfectly showcased Tuan’s personality. He did it all without any instruction. All without MyLe even knowing about it.

THE FIRST LOOK AND FORMAL WEDDING PORTRAITS AT UNF:

MyLe wanted to do a first look with Tuan after she got ready so she rode with me while everyone else went to UNF first. To save time, we decided to do all photos at the University of North Florida campus since it is only 10 minutes from the Morocco Shrine Auditorium.  What a fun group they were because within 1 hour  in the scorching 104 degree weather, we were able to get all of the formal photos in, starting with these first look images when MyLe arrived.

MyLe: More photos, Tra?

On our way out, we passed a gorgeous patch of bamboo so I HAD TO make them pose for a bit more. I felt terrible because it was so hot and everyone were so tired already but look at this place? I had to hide in the bush for this shot but isn’t it so pretty? It looked like they were back in Japan again. (That’s where Tuan proposed to MyLe, on their Japan trip last year. So bamboo will always hold a special meaning to them.)

Phew, guys! I am exhausted! Are you?

Thank you so much for following along on this journey. Aren’t Tuan and MyLe such a handsome couple? They had the best bridal party too. What a fun bunch. I am still laughing over the guy’s funny photos. What a fun and easy group to work with! You guys are so amazing!!!!!

I am working on their photos still so the final blog post with all of the photos will be out later this month. So be sure to come back.
