- San and Joanna got married this past Saturday and we had the honor of capturing it. Their day started with a tea ceremony at home, followed by formal photos in Downtown Sacramento and ended with the formal reception at Asian Pearl Restaurant in South Sacramento.
- Everything about their wedding was sooooo beautiful. Tommy, the bride’s younger brother, said Joanna is the first in their family to get married so everything is so new to them. But seriously, check out all of the crafty details they did in preparation for this happy day.
- THE TEA CEREMONY:
- Off to photograph San & Joanna’s tea ceremony. The entrance to their home.
Detail shots of the beautiful flowers. They were made by Amour Florist & Bridal who offers very fresh and contemporary designs.
Badgley Mischa wedding shoes for Joanna’s big day.
I love, love my macro lens. Can you tell by now?
The bride getting her hair and make up done. Make up was done by Anh (@mrsanhtran and @shesvibey) and hair was by Niki ( @wontfazeme)
The scrumptious dessert table.
Bonding with the bridesmaid while Joanna’s hair and make up done.
Plush pink is the theme for Joanna’s wedding.
The beautiful bride and her entourage.
The groom and his family arrived with gifts.
Wait! Wait! You can’t enter yet.
Not until you’ve passed these challenges that we have planned for you.
What? We have to wear this? Really?
Yup! They had to wear the underwear.
And model them.
And they had to pop those balloons in the back.
Oh girls. You can be quite cruel. For this game, the guys had to pass down a piece of seaweed BY MOUTH, until it reaches the groom.
And if you’ve eaten seaweed before, you know that if water gets on it, it’ll soften and sticks to your mouth.
Oh poor Alan. We were all laughing our heads off at his expenses. Look at that painful facial expression
But they made it! After a lot of “smooches”, the seaweed made its way to San. Phewwww!!!!
The full family.
The beautiful bride and groom.
The bride with all of her lovely sisters.
Halfway through the family photoshoot, I thought of this idea and surprisingly, the whole family was down to make it happen. This picture makes my heart feel so happy because I know adults love things like this but rarely do they get the opportunity to create something so adorable, especially with all of their children around.
Formal Bridal Party Photoshoots in Downtown Sacramento. Can you guess where was this in front of?
A sweet moment for the bride and groom even though it was 104 degree high yesterday.
K Street is always a good idea.
The Groom looking sharp in his gray suit in Sacramento’s 104 degree weather
The sweetest bride who went above and beyond to have me for her wedding day.
The Beautiful Bridesmaids
The Handsome Groomsmen
“Just Goofing Around” Not the best portrait but a pretty darn amazing candid of their relationship so I had to include it here.
Check out that bling!!!!
The Girls & San because this place was just so gorgeous.
The feminine touches with a clean, masculine backdrop.
We met 2 weeks before the wedding to discuss the wedding day plan. When talking about where to go for photos, San told me that he would like to get some photos done by the new Golden 1 Center if possible. So yesterday, in the 104 degree heat, we braved ourselves and set out to do just that. I think they might be the first couple ever to get such a shot in. What do you think?
Normally I would go crazy if the construction fence would show up in photos like this. However, I think it’s acceptable for this case for these photos will forever mark the beginning of S&J’s marriage. Someday, they can look back and say, “We’ve been married as long as this basketball arena has been opened.”
Btw, can you tell that I was sitting in the gutter on the side of the road just to get this shot? LOL.. #PhotogLife
THE WEDDING RECEPTION:
Since we have so many fun moments to show off at the reception, I will do so in the full blog post next month. Until then, I will leave you with these beautiful detail shots. Joanna wanted all-white elegant decor for her reception. From the look of it, I think her vendors did a really good job to make that vision came true. =)
The reception at Asian Pearl Restaurant
Flowers and decorations was by Amour Florist & Bridal. I am obsessed with that white flower wall backdrop. Joanna wanted an all white wedding receptions. I think Amour hit it right on the head!
Here comes the gorgeous buttercream cake from Sweet Escape by Betty
Check out the lace details on the different tiers. The flowers came from Amour as well so that the cake will match the bride’s bouquet.
Romantic backdrop for the bride and groom to take photos with guests as they entered.

- Shout out of Tommy who was my assistant for the day. A really handsome one too. Tommy is Joanna’s younger brother. He was so awesome to help carried my camera as we moved from one area to the next. On top of that, he was such a gentleman for making sure that I get enough water and that I was comfortable throughout the whole day.
