Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Black & White Fundraising Gala hosted by the Lao Family Community Development at the Sacramento Scottish Rite Masonic Center for their 36th Anniversary Celebration. I went with the girlfriends and we had a great time. I got to meet some really amazing individuals as well.
The event was complete with a silent auction, raffle, great food, and an awesome awesome live Jazz band called “Hip Service”.
Koy and Kathy, Lao Family’s Executive Director, made a really heart-warming speech. It made me remember how significant their work is. When we moved to the U.S. from Vietnam 22 years ago, we received similar help from the Vietnamese community services group. Without such help, we wouldn’t be able to get acclimated as quickly as we did. And here they are working to help thousands and thousands of families year in and year out.
Me and the girls getting dressed up and having fun. I unexpected ran into Alexis and Jason at the event.
They are my past clients that I had shot family photos for.
“Hip Service”was complete with live vocalists and dancers. They are soooo good!
Aren’t they adorable?Kaleo sang his heart out and kept us entertained all night.
It is a humbling experience because attending events like this reminds me why we should give back to the community. Small or large, money or labor, if each of us contribute, small effort becomes large.
After all, mountains are made from many, many little stones.
