Now that the Fall Holiday rush is over, I am spending January designing albums and meeting with clients to finalize their accounts, taking print orders and delivering products. Each album takes me about 12-15 hours to design. Depending on how specifics the clients are, it can be a little more.
The beautiful part of getting a wedding album though, is that you get to keep your wedding day story from start to finish, all in one place. And for me, as your photographer, seeing the photos in print is like MAGIC!!! PURE beautiful & priceless magic!!!When designing your wedding album, my flow is quite simple:
– Getting Ready
– Family Photos
– Lots of beautiful formal photos
– Reception (First Dance, Cake Cutting, Garter Toss, Etc…)
The challenge of course, is how to make all the images flow from one page to the next without cluttering the design? The questions are always: Which one to make big? Which one is more important? Which one is less important? Which one MUST the bride has in her album? Will she freak out if I omit this? Does this photo need more edit? OMG, I have the perfect design but this picture cannot be a portrait, it’s landscape. Where do I crop? How should I crop?
These are the reasons why it takes me 10-15 hours to design an album.
I would lock myself in the office, put my headphone on and GO! Occasionally I’d have to remind myself to breath when I catch me holding my breath as I adjust these lines. =)
Without further ado, here is the design of Linda & Mike’s album. They are my super amazing clients who got married in October at the Citizen Hotel in Downtown Sacramento.
