Thuy and Phap are getting married on 7/11 of this year. When we first met, we joked about stopping by an 7/11 store to take some Save-the-Date shots but their engagement story was too cute and it happened in San Francisco so I had to take them back to San Francisco to create some memorable moments.
Thuy: “One day, he asked if I made plans for the weekend? He told me not make any plans because he bought tickets to go to the game together in San Francisco. He even reserved a hotel for us to stay overnight. It was really unlike him to plan everything out like that. I thought for sure he was going to propose to me that weekend.”
“All of my friends and my coworkers were really sure that he was going to propose too. So during the whole game, I couldn’t even concentrate on what was going on. I was waiting for him to take the ring out but I waited and waited and waited! NOTHING! Finally the Giants scored and the game ended. Everyone was cheering so excitedly. I thought for sure he was going to ask me then so I stuck my hand out, my finger was ready. But NOTHING still!!!
Phap told me: “I originally thought of proposing to Thuy at the Giants game. She was expecting it too. She even dressed up and had her make up done, looking prettier than usual going to the game. But because she was expecting it, I waited so that she can be surprised when it happened. All through dinner and at the hotel, she was so upset. And I knew why.
The next morning, we had tickets to go on a river cruise. She was still upset about last night but she went.”
Phap: “When the boat was about to pass under the Golden Gate Bridge, I got on my knee, gave a whole speech and asked her to marry me.”
Thuy: “I didn’t hear the speech at all. I remember him getting his knees so I stuck my hand out, grabbed the ring and put it on my finger while everyone else around us was “aww-ing” and taking pictures.”
Me: “So did you cry when he asked you?”
Thuy: “No, but Phap might have.”
These two, they are such a fun and cute couple. Phap is so easy going and Thuy is just so sassy. Phap said as long as he gets to take photos at AT&T park, he is satisfied. Thuy can choose the rest of the locations. I gave her a list of locations that I thought are really pretty. She really loved to bow and arrow in Embarcardo as well as the Palace of Fine Art so that’s where we went.
For April, it was surprisingly bright and hot that day in San Francisco but we managed to get some really awesome shots together. We went to 3 locations and got them all done in 2.5 hours. I don’t think that has ever happened before! What has never happened before also is having a bride that loves big smiles in her photos. The bigger the better, Thuy said! And Phap confirmed, “If it’s not a big, cheesy smile, she’ll have to do a retake until it is. She loves it that way.”
This is why engagement photos are so good. Not only do you get really beautiful images to celebrate your relationship, I get to know you so much more and what you like and don’t like.
Can you tell that I love them a lot? They are so in sync with each other, each speaking and thinking for the other person.
I also love that they are very adventurous. Whatever I tell them to do, they are all for trying it out.
Of course you can’t go to the Palace of Fine Arts without taking pictures in front of the giant green doors.
We were so glad it was so nice and cool here compared to the heat at Embarcadero. By this time, they were so comfortable together and in front of the camera that these pictures come out so natural.
I can’t wait to photograph your wedding in July! I am smitten by you and cannot wait to tell your wedding day story.
