This past Saturday, I got to go to the Instameet that happened on R Street in midtown Sacramento. I was super excited since the couple times before this, I already had shoots scheduled and couldn’t go. I didn’t know what to expect. The direction did say to bring props so I brought my lifesize Teddy Bear along just in case. End up, Teddy was a big hit!
I had a great time and got to meet some really cool people: some I only know by name and some I now know. I didn’t take too many photos because I was too busy making friends. hehehe..
For the ones that I did take, here are some of my favorites. If you like them, feel free to download and use them, just please make sure you give me credit by tagging me on Instagram under @twotwentyphotos.
Christi brought along this round frame which I know is normally used for embroidery.
Last minute I thought it’ll be cool to use it as a hoop and have someone jumped through it.
Rob volunteered and I’m super satisfied with how it came out.
We ended the night with steel wool spinning with @sacafterdark. This was my first time seeing them in action and capturing it using long exposure.
How it works is that in a room with no light (in this case, an empty garage for safety purposes), we set the camera to capture everything that happened within a 25-second period. In the beginning, it was with 1 person spinning at a time. Since the room is so dark, there’s nothing for the camera to capture except for the light that sparked from the burning steel wool. As sparks came flying out, it lit up the room so that’s how you’re able to see the columns and ceiling. At the end of the 25-second lapse, the camera put all of the frames together and give us the photos that you see here.
As the grand finale, they had 4 guys spinning all at once. I thought there was only 3 so I positioned myself only to capture 3, totally forgetting the guy on my right. That’s why there’s a wall of sparks on the right side of the photo. lol..
What a day! I can’t wait for next time.
