The Cisneros Grandparents were the recipients of my Valentine’s Day Photoshoot Giveway that took place last month. This year, I want to put the spotlight on a “lasting love”. Lots of time, we hear and celebrate young love but we often overlook those couples that have been through thick and thin and still work to make their marriage work. To me, that’s true love and I couldn’t help but choose them after receiving 3 separate nominations from 3 different granddaughters.
Here’s what they wrote:
“My grandparents, Mariano and Albertina Cisneros, will be married 60 years this June. They married as teenagers, migrated from Mexico to the States, raised 11 kids and 40+ grandkids and great grandkids.
My grandparent’s marriage is so strong because they have endured difficult times and happy times but continue to love one another. They have endured the loss of an infant, moving to a new country, separation while my grandfather worked in the fields in the USA while my grandma stayed in Mexico, moving from LA to Sacramento so their children would grow up in better neighborhoods and endured endless struggles as the head of our large family.
They are the rock of our family and because their love is so strong for each other, it has made our family so close. They have kept our entire family connected and raised us to put family first at all time while leading by example.
Growing up, my grandparents babysat us. One of the fondest memories I have of my grandparents was my Grandpa killing snakes with a samurai sword and my grandma pinching our butts and laughing hysterically.
This was a picture of them when they got married.
In 2004, I got to go to Michoacan, Mexico with them. I got to see where they grew up and where our family originated. The whole trip they told us the history of our family and I get to see them in the place where they truly loved to be.
On their 50th anniversary, I got to see them danced and watched as they laughed and cried
as their children spoke about their wonderful and crazy family.
I really want to this photoshoot for them because there are not many marriages now a days that last as long as theirs. They have struggled through so much and I see the joy in their face when we are all together. My grandma is not one for public displays of affection but I have caught glimpses of her and my grandpa holding hands or giving a quick kiss and know that is how love should be. They truly deserve a photo shoot just for them as they are the reason for all the love in our family.
BEHIND THE SCENE:
Thank you to Hannah & April of Hello Gorgeous Downtown for giving Grandma Cisneros a beautiful makeover at their salon down the street from the Capital. Grandma couldn’t stop smiling the whole day because she looked so beautiful!
Thank you to Zach of Stella Blue Vintage Tours for letting us borrow his 1947 Chevy as a vintage prop. As you can tell, we couldn’t drive the car into the Capital’s driveway since that requires a permit. Zach was so east to work with. He didn’t hesitate to drive the car into the roudabout and parked right in front of the Capital steps so that I can get that amazing backdrop for my photos.
I want to thank Sharisse of Pieces Calligraphy for creating this one-of-a-kind framed art that says “60 Years Strong & Counting” to celebrate this special occasion. Her art is phenomenal. Their family loved it! The Grandparents even got to take it home with them afterward as a keepsake.
As a surprise, we even had their children and grandchildren showed up to get photos with them as well. Thank you ladies for getting everyone together to make this such a memorable event! I love and appreciate you so, so much! Thank you to you who is reading this post and always supporting my work. If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to my blog so you’ll be notified right away when new work is posted.
