November 14th, 2014 had to be the hardest day in history in our family’s history. My niece, Kaitlyn Rose Okolita, was taken from us to become an angel after a year long battle with brain cancer. Yesterday was Katie’s birthday, she would have been 13! I really wanted to get her a present, however, I didn’t know how to send anything to heaven…then I thought of this.
Her favorite color was green and she loved zebra print, so what better balloons to get then those!
Writing messages for her on the balloons was very emotional, but made me happy knowing that she was getting a gift today.
Social media took to supporting her by storm! Instagram, Twitter and Facebook were all over #TEAMKATIEO
The zebra balloon was first because it was most special.
… then 3 green balloons, and 1 white for peace and hope.
“God saw the road was getting rough,
the hills were hard to climb.
He gently closed your loving eyes,
and whispered, “peace be thine.”
The golden gates stood open,
he saw you needed rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
for he only picks the best.
Your life is a beautiful memory,
your absence a silent grief.
You sleep in God’s beautiful garden
In the sunshine of perfect peace.”
