You have to love California weather. Within the same weekend, I get to photograph Kelly & Hollie in this beautiful field of yellow wildflowers. The next day, I’m up on my knees in snow in Sugar Bowl with Cris & Diana for their engagement session. My first experience of taking pictures in the snow was quite interesting. As a matter of fact, this in only the second time that I’ve even been in the snow. I grew up in Florida. The closest we came to snow is white frost on the grass on those really chilly February morning. The first time I saw snow was back in 2008 when Henry and I drove up to Washington to visit his sister. On the way home, white, soft and powdery snow was falling all over the freeway. Henry surprised me by asking if I’d like to stop to go play in them. Like a kid waiting for recess, I shouted, “YES!” right away.
When we started brainstorming about their engagement session and how they envision it to be like, D told me that she and Cris have always wanted to take photos in the snow. Cris snowboards a lot so taking photos in the snow would be right in their comfort zone. We talked about having her daughter, Naty, and their dog, Loui, holding signs let their friends and family know that their parents are tying the knot after 3 years.
Congratulations you guys on finding your happiness! I wish you a lifetime of laughters and exciting adventures!
