Valentine’s Day Photos in Old Sac with the Cisneros Family | Sacramento Family Photographer

On one random beautiful day in January, I told Henry, “Valentine’s Day is coming up. Let’s do something amazing!”

My mind started racing a million miles a minute for ideas. When I think of Valentine, I think of: roses, kisses, hugs, smiles, hearts, chocolate, valentine’s day cards, cute dresses, fancy dinner, and asking that special someone to be your Valentine. While searching online for ideas, kissing booths came up. I thought Henry would laugh at me for being silly but surprisingly, he entertained the idea. There was no reasonable pre-made kissing booth for purchase so the next day, we went to Home Depot to buy woods to make it ourselves.

I posted this picture of us at Home Depot getting help with the wood cutting on Instagram and next thing you know, Lisa emailed me the next morning to offer help making it.

Lisa and her husband, Doug, helped build the kissing booth. Well, it was more Doug taking over and did the whole thing while Lisa and I chatted. Doug was amazing. He built the whole thing in less than 2 hours.

I to present you our homemade kissing booth for Valentine’s Day minisessions. Originally I was going for 5 cents a kiss but due to inflation and cost of living, 25 cents will do. =)

For props, I used the peonies left over from our wedding. I borrowed the LOVE sign from Sam. I also bought a suitcase from the Sacramento Antique Faire to complete the vintage theme. So the Saturday before last, I did my first Valentine’s Day photos with the Cisneros children at the park in Old Sac.

I am in love with everything about these children. They came all excited to take photos. Their Mom had them all dressed up and accessorized. Without further ado, here are the results!

When dressing your family for a photobooth, choose 1 or 2 of your favorite colors that will “pop” and add in white, black, gray. It is perfectly fine to wear different shades of the same color, just don’t ever wear the same exact shade unless everyone is wearing white.

Do dress up your outfits with accessories. I am all for bringing your favorite props to include in the photoshoot. They make the photos that much more special.

The parents said they didn’t want to be in the photos but how can I not include them when they are so cute together like this?

Have you noticed that when shooting with babies, I always have the parents throw or lift them up? The reason is because this shows strength. To the parents, it is amazing to look back and see that their kid was once so, so tiny. To the baby, one day he is going to say, wow! Look how strong my Dad was!
